What’s Uncommon Mama?
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been a little different. I’ve always questioned the “supposed to’s” - the career trajectory one should follow, the schedule one is supposed to keep, the life one is supposed to want.
When I became a mother, that uncommon pull made me prioritize my own life choices even more. I didn’t want to simply keep up with the mainstream, I wanted to disrupt what was expected, both in life and client work. I found peace in that balance between creative client projects and an island life that fed my soul. Making space for creativity, for yoga, for ocean breezes, and most importantly, for being present with my son as he grew into himself.
That’s where Uncommon Mama began. It’s my home for all the ways I’ve woven together a life that’s at times unconventional but always deeply fulfilling — from the campaigns I’ve crafted in marketing and communications, to the yoga practices that ground me as student and teacher, to the art and designs I create to share a little more beauty with the world.
For other midlife mamas, fellow yogis, and anyone who loves the magic of St. Croix, Uncommon Mama is a reminder: you can rewrite the rules, follow your own rhythm, and design a life that nourishes both you and the people you love.
Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

This is my digital journal—a space where I share the stories, strategies, and adventures that shape my work and my life.
For more than 15 years, I’ve built a career at the intersection of marketing, public relations, and communications. My journey began in New England, where I grew up in my family’s country inn and restaurants. By the time I could reach the stovetop from a stepstool, I was helping plate meals for 200-guest weddings and greeting travelers at the front desk. Hospitality was my first classroom, and it taught me how meaningful connection and thoughtful service can transform an experience.
That foundation carried me through a career in hospitality then marketing, starting at Walt Disney World, then ski resorts in Vermont and Colorado. My love for people, place and the desire to serve eventually took me farther—to Samoa, where I served in the U.S. Peace Corps. That was where I started my first blog and discovered the power of digital storytelling to capture culture, build community, and inspire action.
Since then, I’ve helped organizations across industries—hospitality, eCommerce, education, nonprofits, and government—find their voice, grow their audiences, and translate engagement into measurable results. I’ve launched new brands and websites, grown social channels to millions of monthly impressions, managed high-profile influencer campaigns, and led events that delivered record-breaking attendance and revenue. My approach blends creativity with strategy: every campaign is designed to resonate with real people, spark meaningful connections, and move organizations closer to their goals.
In 2023, I stepped into federal service with FEMA, where I managed crisis communications and public affairs for federally declared disasters across the country. Serving survivors in their hardest moments has been both humbling and deeply rewarding, and it fulfilled a goal I set for myself years ago during Peace Corps—to dedicate part of my career to public service.
Now, I find myself in my new home in coastal North Carolina, with my teenage son and parents nearby. I’m focused on building the next chapter: helping organizations, businesses, and causes elevate their message, strengthen their community presence, and grow in ways that create lasting impact.
Outside of work, you’ll usually find me flowing through yoga, hosting friends around the table, or exploring the outdoors. I have a deep love for travel—whether that’s hiking to hidden waterfalls, ziplining at my son’s encouragement, or discovering the perfect cup of coffee in a new city. For me, creativity and curiosity aren’t just professional tools—they’re ways of living.
